On the 29th of November 2020, the government announced an extension of the homebuilder grant from the original concluding date of December 31st 2020 to March 31st 2021 with a few changes.
HomeBuilder grant
The HomeBuilder program provides eligible first home buyers with a grant to assist with building a new home or to renovate an existing home.
The grant was created with the intention for Australia to ‘build’ its way out of the recession.
The HomeBuilder program has assisted many Australian’s with building their first home and renovating existing homes during the pandemic period.
Since introducing the HomeBuilder grant, more than 75,000 households across Australia have applied for the government grant.
The HomeBuilder grant was designed to boost the economy via residential construction during the pandemic, saving thousands of small businesses and self-employed tradies.
The grant has exceeded expectations for the residential building industry, with Prime Minister Scott Morrison saying it has provided security for contractors for the next two years.

The end of the HomeBuilder program is looming with March 2021 quickly approaching.
